No Mr. Bond, I expect you to buy: 007’s DB5 fetches US$4.6 Million at auction

Well, it's done. The world's most famous was sold last week for a whopping £2,912,000 (US$4,608,500) by RM Auctions of London. The price includes a £30,000 tailored suit by Gieves & Hawkes of Savile Row (who dressed Sean Connery from Dr No to Diamonds are Forever) and a 7 night stay for 10 guests at Ian Fleming's former estate in Jamaica, valued at £40,000.

The new owner is an American business man by the name of Harry Yeaggy, who plans to put the car on public display in Ohio. Don't feel too sorry for the Aston's seller and only other ex-factory owner, Philadelphia radio broadcaster Jerry Lee, though. He's got a good return on his original investment of $12,000 in 1969 (equal to around US$71,400 in today's money, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics), all of which will be going to his self-named charity.

The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 should need no introduction. It was driven by Sean Connery's James Bond in Goldfinger and Thunderball and is probably one of the most iconic cars to ever grace the silver screen. This particular example comes with the trademark Silver Birch exterior and dark grey (not black) interior trim and a 282 bhp (210 kw) 4.0 L inline six mated to a 5sp manual transmission.

A New Look of Aston Martin One-77 Engine Specs Detailed

The engine specifications for the One-77, Aston Martin’s supercar, have been released. Contrary to earlier estimates, the One-77 will have a 7.3-liter V12, rated at 750 bhp (559 kW / 760 PS) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Not a word has been officially heard on performance figures, but a pre-production prototype has earlier hit a top speed of 220 mph (355 km/h)

According to earlier reports, the One-77 features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and an inboard double wishbone suspension with Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve damping. Other appealing features include a six-speed robotized manual gearbox, carbon ceramic brakes, and specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

Aston Martin Racing has released the 2009 specification Vantage GT4 based on Aston Martin’s new 4.7 litre V8 Vantage. The new Vantage GT4 builds on the success of its predecessor, the 4.3 litre Vantage N24. The Vantage GT4 has been under development for six months and was unveiled in Dubai this week by Aston Martin chairman, David Richards, and tested extensively at the Dubai Autodrome. The car is an evolution of the N24 with the larger capacity engine being more responsive with increased torque throughout the rev range. 05 Jun 10 Jame’s Bond 1964 Aston Martin to go on auction, expected to go for over $5 million

One of the most famous cars in history will be going on sale. The Aston Martin DB5 used by James Bond, played by Sean Connery, will be consigned by the RM Auction house this coming October during their yearly event tagged as Automobiles of London. The movie car used in the Thunderball and Goldfinger offering of the famous James Bond flicks is expected to go for more than $5 million.

The DB5 of James Bond known by its United Kingdom registration FMP 7B is the only 007 Aston Martin DB5 remaining. As you may wonder, the car is fitted with the effects courtesy of academy award winner John Stears for the James Bond films. It was featured in the movie with Q modifications and gadgets like the revolving plate numbers, machine guns, tracking device, nail spreader, oil sprayer, detachable roof panel, smoke screen, and all other contraptions triggered with a flick of a switch on the arm rest.

The DB5 was loaned to the EON Productions for the making of the two movies and later went on tour before returning to the Aston Martin factory. Jerry Lee, a broadcasterd from Philadelphia was able to negotiate with Aston Martin and acquired the 007 DB5 for $12,000 back in 1969.

Today, the only ex-factory owner wants to put on sale the FMP 7B to use the proceeds for charitable work through his Jerry Lee Foundation.

The vehicle was recently restored to its running condition as commissioned by the RM Auction after being in display for years at the home of Mr. Lee.

Aston Martin Vanquish $255,000

The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is a supercar manufactured by Aston Martin since 2001. It rose to fame after being featured as the official James Bond car in Die Another Day, the twentieth James Bond film. In the film, the Vanquish has the usual Bond film embellishments, including active camouflage which rendered the vehicle virtually invisible. The Vanquish is powered by a 5.9 L (5935 cc) 48-valve 60° V12 engine, which produces 343 kW (460 hp) and 542 N·m (400 ft·lbf) of torque. It is controlled by a fly-by-wire throttle and a 6 speed 'paddle shift' or semi-automatic transmission. A special V12 Vanquish S debuted at the 2004 Paris Auto Show with the power upped to 388 kW (520 hp) and 577 N·m (426 ft·lbf).
