The tuning specialists over at AC Schnitzer in Germany have endowed the latest BMW 5-Series saloon, codenamed F10, with exterior and interior styling accessories, as well as hardware upgrades.

The company's engineers got under the bonnet and came up with a performance upgrade for the 530d's straight-six turbo diesel pushing output from the 245HP to 286HP. Optimizations for the rest of the diesel range, including the 520d, 525d and 535d models in Europe, are also under development and will become available soon, according to AC Schnitzer.
There's also a new sport exhaust system with chrome tail pipes that offers a throatier tone and is available on the 550i and 535i petrol, and 535d and 530d diesel models.
To improve handling, AC Schnitzer has come up with some minor enhancements to make the 5er more sporty on the road, including stiffer springs that lower the vehicle's road height by 25mm and an 8-piston caliper brake system for the front axle.

Buyers can choose from two different alloy wheel designs that are available in sizes 19- and 20-inches. The 20s are fitted with high performance tires size 245/35 R20 on the front and 285/30 R 20 on the rear.

For the exterior, there's a body kit package with a new front spoiler, a chromed twin kidney grille, side skirts, roof and boot lid spoilers, and a rear apron incorporating a diffuser.

Inside, the cockpit and steering wheel can be trimmed in black carbon fiber with silver accents, while the tuner also offers aluminum foot rest and pedal sets, gear knobs trimmed in leather and aluminum (with or without the digital gear display) and an aluminum cover for the i-Drive system controller.

AC Schinitzer Eagle

Aachen, Germany-based AC Schnitzer claims its Eagle, a hotted-up Mini based on the John Cooper Works edition hot hatch, is the fastest Mini ever. Packing 260 horsepower into a shell that has shed nearly 200 pounds, we're inclined to believe them.

The Schnitzer Eagle backs up its on-paper claims with a 1:13 blast around the Hockenheimring GP circuit. To hear Schnitzer tell it, it took the likes of a supercharged M3 and offerings from AMG to best that time.

With 260 supercharged horses on tap and wheels at each extreme corner, this thing looks like an absolute riot. Check out a video of the AC Schnitzer Eagle in action after the jump.

Abarth Grande Punto S 2000

TopClass View

The first of a new generation of Fiat Abarth performance cars being unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this year is the Grande Punto Abarth, which is equipped with a 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine that delivers 150 bhp at 5500 rpm, boosted to 155 bhp when 98 RON petrol is used. Peak torque of 152 lb-ft is developed at just 2000 rpm, but 169 lb-ft is produced at 3000 rpm by driver activation of the Sport mode. And thanks to the availability of an aftermarket booster kit, some 180 bhp can be made available, representing a peak power output of almost three times that of the entry level Punto.

All of which is a revival of past traditions: for example, the 1957 Fiat 500 delivered 13 bhp at 4000 rpm with a top speed of 53 mph, while the Fiat 500 Abarth of the same year delivered over 20 bhp at 5000 rpm and a top speed of 73 mph. The new Grande Punto Abarth aims to revive the feats of these entertaining performance cars, and Abarth aims to offer young enthusiasts in particular an opportunity to enter the world of motor sport in complete safety and at an accessible price.

Abarth Grande Punto

TopClass View

Abarth Grande Punto and Abarth 500 owners will now be able to enhance their cars even further, following the introduction of stylish new sports seats for these two high performance models.
The seats, called 'Abarth Corse by Sabelt', are the result of co-operation between the two sporting Italian brands. Designed by Sabelt Style Centre, under the supervision of Abarth's stylists, the new seats stem from the same philosophy that inspired, in the 1960s, racing seats for the Abarth 595 and 695.
Matching all the features of top sportscar seats, the 'Abarth Corse by Sabelt' is light, strong, comfortable and highly efficient in retaining body control under cornering, braking and acceleration forces, thanks to its mono-layer padding containment bands. The forward-tipping seatback comprises a headrest with slit for a full multi-point safety harness.
Available in two versions - Frau black leather with fretworked black Alcantara, or black "F1" technical fabric - the seats are finished with red thread seams, a distinctive embroidered Abarth name, and the Scorpion Logo on the backrest tilt wheel.
Initially available on the Abarth Grande Punto, followed later in the year by the Abarth 500 version, the seats are priced at £2250 per pair (leather) or £1760 per pair (fabric). They will be available throughout Abarth's 16-strong dealer network.

Abarth Punto Evo 2010

TopClass View

The new 165 HP Multiair 1.4 turbo petrol engine is the result of a winning partnership between Fiat Powertrain Technology and Abarth race-derived know-how.

Since the Fiat Powertrain engine was first presented at last year's Geneva motor show, Abarth engineers have been working hard to squeeze every last drop of power out of it and to improve its sporting performance in typical Abarth style.

Multiair engine technology has revolutionised the world of petrol engines. Compared to a conventional petrol engine of equivalent size, a MultiAir engine develops more power (up to 10%) and more torque (up to 15%), while consuming significantly less (up to 10%) and emitting less CO2 (up to 10%), fewer particulates (up to 40%) and less NOx (up to 60%).

The genius of the Multiair engine is embodied in its electro-hydraulic valve control system. Both fuel consumption and pollutant emissions have been slashed by using the engine's intake valves to control the air flow directly, without a butterfly valve in the intake. Using this already advanced technology as a starting point, Abarth's development department has made a series of modifications to arrive at the innovative new 165 HP Multiair 1.4 16 V. Power output, for example, has been optimised by the intelligent application of a new, larger turbocharger from Garrett. The result is superb performance with peak torque of 250 Nm (25.5 kgm) at 2250 rpm, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in only 7.9 seconds.
